Equipment Operator III Job Description & Qualifications

Now Hiring: Equipment Operator III (Full-Time)

The Town of Berne is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Equipment Operator III within the Highway Department at 1811 Helderberg Trail Berne NY 12023

Position Details:

• Status: Full-Time (40 hours/week)
• Hourly Rate: $26.79
• Union: UPSEU
• Benefits: Full benefits package including health insurance, retirement, paid leave accruals, and other negotiated union benefits

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required
• Experience operating heavy equipment (e.g., plow trucks, loaders, graders, etc.)
• Ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions
• Knowledge of road maintenance, snow removal, and general highway department operations preferred

Responsibilities Include:

• Operation of heavy and light highway equipment
• Snow and ice removal
• Road maintenance, repair, and construction activities
• Routine equipment inspection and maintenance
• Other duties as assigned by the Highway Superintendent
